چکیده

Suday, O cber 8, 2017 METHODS: Hospital cost-accounting databases were queried for patients undergoing single-stage advancement or distraction osteogenesis from 2007 to 2016. Nominal cost data was adjusted using the Bank of Canada Consumer Price Index. Reported costs represented the full length of stay for all utilization per patient except for anesthesia and surgeon costs (which were equivalent between groups). Parametric and non-parametric tests were used to analyze data.

A subcranial Le Fort III advancement with distraction osteogenesis as a clinical strategy to approach pycnodysostosis with midface retrusion and exorbitism.

Pycnodysostosis is a rare autosomal recessive skeletal disorder involving a constellation of craniofacial manifestations including midface retrusion. We report the case of a 13-year-old girl with pycnodysostosis who presented with exorbitism, midface retrusion, malocclusion, and obstructive sleep apnea. Here, we describe the successful use of subcranial Le Fort III advancement using distraction...

Advancement of the midface, from conventional Le Fort III osteotomy to Le Fort III distraction: review of the literature.

Since its introduction in about 1950, the Le Fort III (LF III) procedure has become a widely accepted treatment for correction of midface hypoplasia and related functional and esthetic problems. As long-term surgical experience grows and improvements are made in technique, equipment and peri-operative care, the number of LF III procedures performed worldwide is increasing. Abstract 122: Internal Distraction Resulted in Improved Patient Reported Outcomes for Midface Hypoplasia

BACKGROUND Both internal and external distraction devices have been used successfully in correcting midface hypoplasia. Although the indication for surgery and the osteotomy techniques may be similar, deciding when to use internal versus external devices has not been studied. The authors studied patient-reported outcomes with FACE-Q and functional surveys for internal and external devices for m...

Sutural distraction osteogenesis (SDO) versus osteotomy distraction osteogenesis (ODO) for midfacial advancement: a new technique and primary clinical report.

A new technique of osteotomy distraction osteogenesis (ODO) and sutural distraction osteogenesis (SDO) by the use of bone-borne traction hooks is presented. The technique of osteotomy plus distraction osteogenesis is suitable for adult patients. The technique of sutural distraction osteogenesis is suitable for young patients, ages 6 through 12 years. The distraction system consists of a face-bo...

Initial Experience With a New Intraoral Midface Distraction Device

Maxillary hypoplasia that necessitates surgical advancement affects approximately 25% of patients born with cleft lip and palate. Syndromic conditions such as Crouzon may also be accompanied by significant maxillary hypoplasia. Severe maxillary hypoplasia can result in airway obstruction, malocclusion, proptosis, and facial disfigurement. For optimal stability, severe hypoplasia is best address...
